Prior to joining Kuiper Orlebeke, Scott served as the Judicial Law Clerk for the 26th Circuit Court in Alpena, Michigan, and as a policy writer at an international intellectual property non-profit in San Francisco, California. Scott graduated Magna cum Laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where he received the Jurisprudence Award in Labor Law and the Spicer Award in Sports and Entertainment Law.

Scott's interest in the law stems from his background as a professional guitarist, bandleader, composer, and music instructor, where he was exposed to copyright law, contract negotiation and Internet commerce. He received a Bachelor of Music from Wayne State University, where his studies focused on jazz and guitar performance.

In his spare time, Scott takes pleasure in running, hiking, and enjoying the outdoors with his wife, daughter, and dog. He ran his first trail marathon in 2007.
